Why Levern engineering?

Levern engineering is the sole licensed Scottish service partner for Chesterton ARC, Advanced Ceramic Composites. We have developed a state of the art facility in conjunction with Chesterton at our central works located in Glasgow. This allows our trained technicians to prepare and coat equipment with ARC composite under optimum conditions.

Our solvent wash and shot blasting facility allows for a component size of 14' x 8' to be prepared and tested prior to coating. Your equipment is then transferred to our temperature controlled coatings room where optimum ARC application and curing takes place. An on-site service is available for larger equipment.

Once applied to moving parts which have been damaged by abrasion, corrosion and erosion. ARC provides an extremely durable, tough and smooth protective layer.

ARC Repairs provide the following benefits:

Reduce repair costs v new component cost.
Reduced downtime
Improved pump lifetime
Dramatically reduced wear rates
Increased efficiency through decreased friction between moving parts or pumped material

Archimedian Screws:

Problem: Erosion and corrosion on both the screw and the concrete widens the tolerances between screw and trough. This increases the energy consumption and decreases capacity.

Solution: The concrete was repaired with ARC 791 and the screw was repaired with ARC858 and S2.

Results: When the equipment was remanufactured, two screws had the same capacity as the three unrepaired screws.

Valves:

Problem: Erosion and corrosion destroy the valves, it is expensive to buy new equipment.

Solution: ARC 858 and 855 are used to remanufacture the valves.

Results: Valves that have been remanufactured work as well as new equipment.

Savings: The cost is only 50 - 60% of the price for new equipment.

Settlement Tanks:

Problem:

1. Scraper support wheel bearings failed because concrete runway was breaking up.

2. Algae/Weed growth in wear area was uncontrolled. Weed breakaway threatened discharge consent.

Solution: 1. All runways repaired with ARC 797.
2. Weir area given epoxy / sand screed, followed by ARC 791 resin primer and ARC S2 ceramic composite.

Results: Zero failures since completion. Previously weed grew to over 2m in length. Does not now hold beyond 200mm in length.

Savings: Annual saving in excess of 20k.

Fans:

Problem: Particles sticking onto fan blades, in time these build ups cause imbalance, resulting in bearing failure. Worn and damaged fans can also be remanufactured.

Solution: By having such a high gloss surface ARC considerably reduces particle build up on blades.

Results: Longer equipment life is achieved.
