Vulcan have a long established range of direct replacement seal designs to suit all types of pumps and compressors associated with the marine, water treatment, food & beverage, building services and leisure pool pumps. In all cases the Vulcan seals will resemble the original parts, while providing performance and quality benefits from our design and manufacturing policies. Vulcan seals fit directly into the original equipment without modification to either the pump , or installation procedure.
FEP Encapsulated O-Rings |
FEP Encapsulated ‘O’ Rings are solvent resistant and chemically inert (except for attack by alkaline metals, fluorine and some halogenated compounds at high temperatures) yet have an elastomeric memory near that of rubber ‘O’ Rings. FEP polymer also has an extremely low coefficient of friction at its (.1 to .2) and very low permeability to gasses, making Chem-Rings a virtually universally seal for hostile environments.
With the chemical resistance of Teflon®. They consist of an elastomeric core of Silicon or Viton® with a relatively thin, moulded encapsulation of Teflon® FEP or PFA polymer. This produces an elastomeric PTFE seal with maximum sealing capability. Elastomeric, rubber ‘O’ Rings suffer from high friction and limited resistance to aggressive chemicals and gas permeation.
Solid Teflon® ‘O’ Rings are rigid with no effective memory and high compression set.
